The biggest trend in the IT business these days is the shift from internal systems and applications, to using web-based services. Or cloud computing, as it’s popularly known. A beloved child has many names, and some call it the Net, the Cloud –  or simply the Internet. This change is taking place at a faster pace than anyone would have imagined not long ago. And there are many benefits: Lower cost, better access, easier operation and many competitors.

Either way, the key point is that Ensafer is a service located in the Cloud in the sense that both the software, processing, storage and sharing of data takes place in it. The user does need to download and install a small program code in order to integrate the system in Windows, but we will soon be able to offer a pure web-based solution that can be run from any browser without the need for installation.

The primary goal of the first wave has been to get out on the net and into the web cloud, first for private individuals, and now for companies. And it’s clear that we’re all there; you need only look at the popularity of social media. Facebook by itself proves our point. For companies, there are many things to consider before leaping onto the cloud, but even this seems to happen at a faster pace than first assumed.

Now comes the aftershock: What about security? For those of us who’ve taken part in developing Ensafer for many years, and therefore have been working in the field of data safety, this has not been sufficiently focused on. Not until last autumn, when WikiLeaks entered the stage. During the past year, the media has followed up with a number of scandals related to computer safety, including the Government’s loss of hundreds of thousands of documents last autumn a prime example. Now, companies and individuals are seriously beginning to worry about Internet safety, and with good reason, we would add. We therefore believe our product launch comes at exactly the right time, and not many of our competitors can claim to have the same level of security.

Much has been written about the Internet Cloud, so we leave it up  to the reader to seek further information about it on the net. When it comes to security, this is our field –  and we hope you will find interest and security in Ensafer if you or your company needs to safeguard information by storing and sharing it on the Internet –  pardon, in the Cloud.
